This art can provide an important connection to our cultural heritage. This art originated dead back hundreds and thousands of years ago madhubani art is most famous and has roots in Indian mythology.
In the region of Mithila is now in India and Nepal, a madhubani art practice. It is also known as the Mithila painting Due to its place of origin. The painting is known for its eye-catching geometrical patterns.

 History

There are three main themes in madhubani art.
Religion
Hindu mythological figures and scenes from sacred texts are very common subjects, deities like Sita and Rama, Radha and Krishna, Shiva, Ganesha, Saraswati Devi, and Laxmi Devi.
Social 
Madhubani painting renders the daily life of rural life, wedding ceremonies, royal court, harvesting and with messages of love and fertility.
Nature
The abundance of nature is an important significance of madhubani paintings. The most used images are the Sun, the moon, birds, animals, the tulsi plant, and the banyan tree.
Contribution
In 2012, when there was major deforestation in Bihar, Shahthi Nath Jha, who runs the Gram Vikas Parishad an NGO, played an important role in the conservation efforts. They started to adore the local trees with madhubani motifs of Radhakrishna, sitaRam, senses of Ramayan and Mahabharata and other mythologies in order to protect cutting of trees in the name of development.
Awards
In 1969, when sita Devi received the state award of Govt. Of Bihar. In 1969, while Mamta Devi from the village Jitwarpur has also got National award. Padmashri in 1975 given to Jagdamba Devi from Bhojparaul.
Sita Devi, satya Narayan Lal Karn, and his wife moti karn, Baua Devi, yamunadevi, Shanti Devi, Chano Devi, Bindeshwari Devi, chandrakala Devi, Shashikala Devi, Leela Devi, Godawari Dutta, Asha Jha, Bharti Dayal, Chandrabhusan, Ambika Devi, Manisha Devi received National awards.
While Sita Devi, Ganga Devi, Dulari Devi won padmashri award, and Sita Devi also received Bihar Ratna.
These are the artisans who were honored for their contribution in the madhubani art.

Future
In the modernized world, the craftsmen of madhubani are facing difficulties in making their living only on the art. Many of the ancient art are at risk of disappearing and madhubani art is no different. Indian folk needs support from NGos, Government, and customers.
