Bhil art has a rich heritage, culture, and history. Being present in the Western and cultural belts it is the third-largest tribe in India. The tribe spread mainly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The tribe varies with each region for their Gods, songs, dances, and traditions.
History
When it comes to the meaning of bhil, it has differences in Sanskrit. Brave and martial, in Dravidian-bow, and Tamil-bowman. It is said that the lineage to Eklavya, the archer in the Mahabharat.
In Madhya Pradesh, Alirajpur district, Bhil Archer, continues no thumb tradition while learning archery few others believe the Author of Ramayan, Valmiki Rushi was a Bhil himself. The bhil became a prominent part of those who revolted against the Mughal, Maratha, and British. The Battle of Haldighati is an example of the bravery of the Bhil who helped the Maharana Pratap.
